Dear BGR! Members-
We have made the difficult decision to close our Black Girls RUN! All Access membership service.
Having first launched Black Girls RUN! All Access in 2015 with moderate participation, we decided to reintroduce the service at the beginning of 2016, with added benefits and perks to make the program more beneficial for members. Over time, we’ve had several members take advantage of the service, however, were not able to make BGR! All Access a viable membership program and service for members.
We want to thank BGR! All Access members for their support. It has been a wonderful opportunity to provide even more membership benefits and perks to BGR! members across the country. For those who were looking forward to taking advantage of the program, we’re sorry we are no longer able to offer this service.
As of today, you will no longer be able to purchase BGR! All Access. Current yearly and monthly subscribers will continue to receive their membership perks and benefits for the duration of their membership term. We will continue to add discounts and honor any BGR! discounts for the full term of your membership based on the date BGR! All Access was purchased. The service will not change. The only change will be that BGR! All Access will no longer be available for purchase.
Again, thank you so much for your support and your continued support of Black Girls RUN! If you have any questions, please email me at toni.carey@blackgirlsrun.com.
Thank you!

Moved here to Miami and as most you know its tough finding us especially in the most sought after neighborhoods. My husband, daughter, son and I live in the Roads Area near Brickell Miami area. What’s the location of the south Florida chapter where we all meet up to run and when? (917)683-4041 c

I used to run over 20 years ago and was wondering if there is a group located near Woodstock, GA that I can join? I would definitely classify myself as a beginner, since it’s been so long, but wanted to start running again.

A big shout out to BGR! As an all access member, I do understand your reasonings for shutting down the all access membership. I am grateful for this organization and how you encourage and support African American women to get off their butts and hit the pavement!! This organization does not need to make a “come-back” as Cynthia Brown suggested.. Black Girls Run is fine just the way it is!!❤

Hi my name is Jada. I just moved here a few months ago. I came here looking to see if there was a BGR. I really wanted to join being a former runner myself before I went back to school to earn my PhD. I’ve been a dark tunnel earning that degree and wanted to begin self-caring again. I wanted to know if there were folks in this group that run together regardless of the drama I see on this thread. I just want to run with women that look like me (Black) and get back into things I loved doing. Running with my girls on the women’s track team was what I loved to do. If there is a team spirit among any of you, please let me know. I’d love to start running again over the winter break coming up soon. jadaphelps@gmail.com

Some people can’t stand the idea of being excluded. So much so, that they create the divide in their own mind.
Looks over at Cynthia Brown
November 25, 2016
My comment is to Ms. Cynthia Brown who posted on Nov. 24th. I believe misinterpreted the All Access membership cancelation, not the Organization of Black Girls Run. BGR has changed so many lives, in the African American (Black ) community, that it closure would be awful in it self. The concept was not to be inclusive but to encourage the community of Black Women (white women were already there) that’s it’s ok to get hair messed up and exercise, Run. Women of color after College would settle in and stop doing physical things, work, take care of kids eat and gain weight. The results bad health (chronic conditions and early death). It’s exhilarating to see the Sea of beautiful Black Sisters living healthier lifestyles. But it’s not to anyone other Race’s demise, but a call to save our own.

Rule of Thumb: When you create a divide between women based on color of skin within an organization, failing is inevitable. Your concept was conceivable, but your non-inclusive attitude is what did your organization in. Blaming the demise of your membership on your own members taking advantage of their membership, without disclosing how they did this, and how it led to BGR’s closure, is nothing short of a cop out. Maybe you can make a come-back with “ALL” Girls Run… because they do!

BGR is a symbol of unity and sister-hood for black women. Those who don’t understand this and make it out to be negative should go elsewhere. In the early 2000s, when I was cycling long distance and running marathons, I saw very few black women on the routes. I would have loved to have been a supporter and member of BGR at this time.
