Why I #OptOutside by Kimberly P. Rusununguko #sponsored
I am a professional woman, wife, mother, and grandmother and I have been a runner for two and a half years and a Run Coordinator for almost 2 years now. When I am out on the pavement, it’s just me and my Sole Sistahs, encouraging, pushing and supporting each other as the miles go by and the stress fades away. I am honored to be a part of Black Girls Run Indianapolis and thrilled that REI recognizes both our contributions and talents as members of the run community.
I love getting together with my loved ones during the holidays and especially for Thanksgiving because this is the one time of year that you get to indulge in delicious delectables. While I enjoy the tradition of preparing and serving our meal, it can be a challenge to calibrate the many demands that come along with the holiday festivities. I am delighted that REI has offered an alternative to Black Friday shopping. My family knows I value our time together more than anything that can be bought in stores. It is my hope that a part of my legacy for them is to be healthy and happy with each other before “material things”.
