Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a brilliant and brave man. The truth and honesty he spoke does not compare to anything the world has ever seen and such fearlessness is something that we should all strive to posses. More importantly he felt a personal responsibility to advocate for the equal rights of blacks and ALL Americans. What if he would have stood by passively thinking, "It's not my problem. Let someone else deal with it."
We all have a personal responsibility to change the world, whether it's big or small. No one should ever stand by and just let the world (or life, for that matter) happen. It can be as simple as setting an example for your children, or being more involved in the political process. Whatever it is, we should never be silent about the things that matter.
