He posted his new-found way of eating on his blog earlier this week. Clearly, veganism isn't anything new and we're still scratching our heads about how this is making national news. (Even though I'm taking the time to blog about it myself.) While I applaud the couple for announcing their pledge from the rooftops (or their blog), I'm a little  like, "Who cares?". We are talking about two people who have an endless amount of resources and can afford anything including personal chefs and the ability to walk into any restaurant and demand a specially prepared vegan dish. For those "common" vegans and vegetarians, the struggle is real and short of being  walk in the park.  When I became a vegetarian is was something that took a while to adjust to especially since I don't really cook and worked crazy hours. I found myself eating crazy amounts of carbs and junk food. Making healthy, wholesome dishes took a little more effort and thought. It totally wasn't as effortless as I hoped it to be. Not only that, dealing with the change of energy levels and hangriness was always an issue. Matter of fact, there's an article circling around, “You Will Be Hangry”: 5 Things Beyoncé and Jay Z Need to Know About Going Vegan,", which is pretty hilarious and true. The problem with this is that everyone and their mom will now attempt veganism for all the wrong reasons similar to the Beyonce's Master cleanse trend. The probablity of people not having the right information to practice veganism the correct way is high, ultimately giving the lifestyle a bad wrap. Today's lesson? Veganism is good for (some people). Following celebrity trends is bad.
