Get Your Run (or walk) On For National #runtowork Day!
September 19, 2013
Over the course of my short runner career, I've realized one of the best times to sneak in a run is at work. When I worked in corporate communications, I'd hit the office gym for a mid-day workout. When I worked at a public relations firm in Nashville, I'd head to the Downtown YMCA to burn off some stress. Now that I live right around the corner from my gig, running to and from work will become my new mode of transportation.
Now, I know what you are going to say. How do you stave off the funk!? Easy! Preparation! Today is National Run to Work Day, but if you aren't fortunate enough to be able to run to work, Brooks is breaking down how to celebrate in your own way with it's 5 Ways to Celebrate Run To Work Day.
But back to staying so fresh and so clean, clean. Here's a few tips on avoiding being "that girl" after a mid-day jog.
1.) Be sure to allow yourself enough time to get refreshed. Most funk happens when there's a time crunch.
2.) Stock up on travel toiletries and keep them at your desk. That way you don't have to worry about unpacking and re-packing your gym bag.
3.) I love, love, love Indigo Wild's Zum Mist Aromatherapy Room and Body Spray. I use it on everything, especially a little spritz here and "there" when I need to freshen up.
4.) Worried about your hair sweating out? Our handy, dandy Black Girls RUN! bondi bands will help absorb moisture that accumulates around your edges. No one will even know you got your sweat on! (Yeah, yeah, yeah, they aren't on the website, but you can still snag one in person at our booth at the Runner's World Half Marathon and Festival and the Trenton Half Marathon).
5.) Last, but not least, there's nothing like a good ol' hoe bath. (If you're from the South you know exactly what this is). Nothing beats a little soap and water in the most important places of a woman's body. (Don't make me go into detail). Again, take a few extra minutes to suds up and hit the most odor causing areas if there aren't any showers around.
And folks, it's that simple. Just a little time, thoughty-ness and soap does the body good! Now, first things first, go ahead and create that private recurring calendar event on your schedule (ie. your daily run). Your co-workers don't need to know EVERYTHING!
