Toni and Ashley talk with Essence Magazine's Teresa Wiltz & GA Rep Stacey Abrams
October 31, 2012
On Saturday, November 3, Black Girls RUN! groups across the nation will meet on state capitols, city hall steps, or in their communities for a non-partisan fun run to emphasize the importance of participating in the upcoming Presidential Election as part of its Black Girls RUN! To Vote initiative. Particularly, in times when elected officials are making decisions that impact women’s healthcare. Black Girls RUN! is encouraging women to take ownership in the political process, similar to the way it encourages women to take ownership over their health.
Leading up to the nationwide event, BGR! co-founders Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks will be joined by Georgia State Representative Stacey Y. Abrams and Essence Magazine’s Deputy Editor Teresa Wiltz on Thursday, November 1 at 8:30 p.m. EST for the BGR!2Vote National Campaign webcast. Toni and Ashley will be discussing issues relating to women in the upcoming election. All BGR! local events will be advertised on social media including Facebook and Twitter. Please feel free to let your network know that you are participating by using the Twitter hashtag #BGR2Vote.
