Running alone is so overrated. For safety and motivational reasons, you should always try to run with a girlfriend, guy friend, or even your big furry fella: your dog. It's so easy to pop headphones in during an evening run and totally shut yourself out from what is going on around you.
Why not get a running partner to be your eyes and ears for you and, of course, vice versa. Don't know who you have as a partner? Utilize your BGR account and look for runners in your area! Whether they live in your neighborhood or a few miles away, you could always meet up at the park or at a neighborhood high school's track. If you aren't able to find a fellow BGR runner (which will probably be absurd seeing as though we are everywhere! (-: ), as a co-worker or a guy friend. Scheduling is quite important so be sure that you find a time that works well for you!
No matter what, you should always be aware of your surroundings. If there's a running jitter and you want to go out for a spur of the moment run, carry your maize and/or a stick, and please make sure your music isn't too loud.
