As runners, walkers, and humans, we all need to drink water. Is water good for us? Of course! Do we ALL enjoy the task of downing gallons of a tasteless liquid every day? Maybe not all of us.
Depending on size, the human body is made up of 58%-75% water. As it heats up outside, it is important for us to keep replenishing our bodies with fluid and why not replenish it with what we sweat out? Water isn’t the most flavorful or favorite thirst quencher, but one thing about water is that it can take on the flavor of whatever you choose to put in it. How about enjoying your glass or bottle of water by adding in lemon juice? Whether it be lemon juice from a bottle or fresh squeezed, lemons can add a spritz of flavor to your water without losing the proper nutrients it provides for us.
Now, of course there are no limitations when it comes to what you can add to your water. Cucumbers, strawberries, and pineapples are just a few favorites. The good thing about adding fruit to water is that you can keep the fruit in the bottle, glass, or cup even after one use. Brandy Sanchez of Clueless Mom says, “The easiest way to do this is to purchase a couple of bags of pre-cut, frozen fruit at your local grocery store. I got the pre-cut pineapple pieces and it was so easy to just toss a few into my water bottle. Just like an ice cube but with a little kick.”
So ladies, if you’re tired of the same ole’ same ole’, try adding your favorite fruit to a glass or bottle of water. You never know, it might encourage you to drink more water than usual. Your taste buds will thank you!
