BGR! on the Move: 2012 Race Schedule (and a Sneak Peak at 2013)

For us, fall signals the beginning of the year’s most anticipated races, but it also makes us start thinking about our dreams, goals and aspirations for 2012. (You should be thinking the same thing too). That’s why we’ve put together a list of official Black Girls RUN! races. What does that mean? That means, not only will you get a chance to run with Ashley and I, but you’ll get to meet your fellow BGRs from across the nation (and quite possibly around the world). We’ve negotiated deals with hotels in each city to make it easier (and cheaper) for our members, so don’t forget to mention Black Girls RUN! when you make reservations. There will be plenty of updates to come, so be sure to come back often.

Rock N’ Roll New Orleans

When: Sunday, March 4 Where: New Orleans, LA The inside track: Home of madi gras and everything Cajun, rumor has it that this is the place to be in 2012. Registration: half marathon $90. Full marathon $95. Relay $130. Race fees increase after 10/31/11. Hotel: Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Convention Center. Tell them we sent you. Transportation: Taxi Pre-Race Meet-Up: TBD

Capital City Half Marathon

When: Saturday, May 5 Where: Columbus, OH The inside track: Choose your course: half marathon, quarter marathon or 5K. Whatever the distance, a champagne toast and chocolate will await you at the end. Did we mention it will be Columbus’ 200^th birthday? It’s a celebration. Registration: Half marathon: $60; Quarter marathon: $40; 5k: $30. (Race fees increase after 10/31/11) Hotel: Sheraton Hotel. Tell them we sent you. Transportation: Taxi Pre-Race Meet-Up: TBD

Nike Women’s Half Marathon

When: October 2012 Where: San Francisco, CA The inside track: Twenty thousand women will run the streets of San Francisco. But beware, the race is lottery only, so be sure to sign up with the Black Girls RUN! team. We have faith we’ll make it this year. Word on the street is runners will get a little something something from the people who made the blue box with a white ribbon famous. We’re all over this race, so look out for more information soon. Baltimore Running Festival

When: TBD Where: Baltimore, MD The inside track: We’re bringing it back to the east coast for this legendary weekend of running. We’ve heard so much about this race, we couldn’t NOT run it in 2012.
