Hi. My name is Tonya and I’m a recovering Starbucks addict! My drink of choice: white chocolate mocha.
As part of my personal commitment to take control of my health in 2011, I’ve decided that white chocolate mocha and I can’t go on with this unhealthy relationship. Here’s my “break up” letter to my ex-favorite drink.
Dear White Chocolate Mocha,
When a neutral friend introduced us about eight years ago, I felt an instant connection. You were warm, sweet and quickly became the only thing I wanted in the morning. During my college years, I’d order a venti and we’d study together at least 4 times a week, and sometimes twice a day. I never thought about all the calories I was taking in because of you and all the money I spent to keep us together. And you really had me thinking that if I were tired, you’d give me the energy to make it through the day. I didn’t even realize that within a couple of hours, I’d be hungry and on the verge of crashing.
So as hard as this is for me, I’m going to have to let you go. Since I began the BGR! Fitness Challenge, I’ve learned how to energize my body and actually eat foods that keep me full. I can’t continue to drink 310 calories every morning and pay almost $30 a week for something that isn’t helping me reach my ultimate fitness goal. They say that drinks like you are okay in moderation, but until we can both be “skinny” and I can choose better options, I can’t take a chance falling in love again.
Your ex-biggest fan,
Tonya
I hope you enjoyed my letter to WCM, and maybe you even found it a little humorous. But when choosing great over good in any area of your life, certain things (and sometimes people) have to go. During the love month, I hope you all take the time to “call it quits” with habits that don’t contribute to your betterment and embrace those things that help you become stronger mentally, physically and spiritually. What do you need to give up to get closer to greatness?
