I finally did it! After nine months of tears, sweat and what seems like $1,000 spent on hair products, I have transitioned from the creamy crack to the au naturale. I have to admit, I’m in love with my new hair, or better yet, the hair God gave me. So far here is what I enjoy about being natural.
1. Wash and Go hairstyle – I love being able to wash my hair, apply curl products and head out the door. With the flexibility of this hairstyle, I’m no longer planning my workouts around the days when I need to have “good” hair day. 2. Clean scalp – As runners, we know that it is best to wash the salty sweat out of our hair after working out. However, when I had a perm, I only washed my hair 1-2 times a week. Now, I it is easy to wash my hair after every run. For more information on running while natural, check out this guest post. 3. Healthier Hair – When I had a perm, my hair’s best friends were the blow dryer and flat iron. Since then, both of those tools have been collecting dust under the bathroom sink. After a few months of transitioning, I noticed that my hair seemed to be growing as fast as weeds. However, I’m sure that my hair isn’t growing any faster, I just have less breakage and I’m maintaining length. I know that natural hair is not for everyone, but I’m so happy that I made the transition.Comments will be approved before showing up.
