Thanksgiving is around the corner and what better time to reflect over this past year. Since our debut in March, a lot has happened. We were featured in Clutch Magazine and Skirt! Magazine, we discovered Nike+, we (Toni) took some really unattractive pictures for the blog, we've run races, we've ditched races and we've gotten tons of interest from black women across the country about our mission. So we want to take a few minutes to list a few things that we'll be giving thanks for at our Thanksgiving spread this week.
THINGS BGR! IS THANKFUL FOR
God: Not to get all churchy, but this vision was not ours. It was His.
Our readers/followers/stalkers: We wouldn't exist without you guys!
Long summer days: Perfect for long runs. We miss you and love you.
Ashley's Asics: Tried and true. They are there when no one else is.
Nike+: *waiting for our endorsement check* We've plugged Nike+ so much this year we should be their official spokesgirls. But, I'm not sure where I'd be without Lance, Paula, my 2,000+ songs and my Nike Mini.
Wicking: Without wicking, I'd be one big nasty sore. Thank you Lord, for wicking technology.
Wrightsocks: After losing a toenail (or two) these socks having been my saving grace and have helped keep my toesies in tact.
Twitter and Facebook: We've met so many cool peeps through Twitter and Facebook. If you aren't following us, you should.
Our Moms and Papa Hicks: Besides birthing us, these ladies inspire us (sometimes in a weird and crazy way) to do what we do. Papa Hicks....well is Papa Hicks. He helps keep us focused.
Opportunity to change lives: BGR! was truly a random idea that Ashley and I began kicking around in the depths of our boredom (and attempt to change the world). We realize we have been given a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to give back to our community and to help each other. Not just black women, but people everywhere. "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
