So, you've chosen the perfect pants to keep your bottom warm, but what about the top? There's several different styles to choose from including mock neck and crew neck. The most important thing to remember is that although you want to keep warm, you don't want to pack on too many layers. You don't want to overheat or restrict movement. Keep in mind, the more you run, the more your own body heat will help keep you warm.
When choosing running shirts, make sure they are made of synthetic wicking material, such as DryFit or Thinsulate. This will help keep the sweat away from your body and keep you dry and warm. This is critical to prevent chaffing.
Choosing cold weather tops isn't rocket science. Most long sleeves shirts with wicking will do. It's all about comfort and your ability to stay warm. You can't go wrong with any cold weather technology.
Each brand has their own brand of cold weather shirts, perfect for keeping you dry and warm. A few of my favorites are:
Under Armour Frostwork Fitted Cild Gear Crew
Womens
The great thing about this shirt, it not only keeps you dry, but it helps regulate your body temperature for a comfortable run. It includes moisture-wicking ColdGear performance fabric.
Nike Dri-FIT Soft Hand Long-Sleeve Women's Running Base Layer
I have a few of these shirts, but I must admit their not my favorite. I prefer a snug fit which helps to retain all the moisture, but these shirts definitely get the job done. They also include wicking material to help keep you dry and keep you warm.
As a personal preference, I tend to stay away from mock neck shirts, as I usually layer up with a fleece zip sweater (which will be covered later in the week).
