For me running has always been a somewhat peaceful sport. I trot along and relieve stress. Recently, someone on twitter introduced me to ChiRunning. I admit, when I think about Chi or Tai Chi, I think of old people doing karate like poses. But after some googling and reading, I have a fresh perspective on the technique. I am also interested in seeing how it can improve my running.
"ChiRunning combines the inner focus and flow of T'ai Chi with the power and energy of running to create a revolutionary running form and philosophy that takes the pounding, pain and potential damage out of the sport of running." - Chirunning.com
The benefits are: 1. Fewer Injuries 2. Alignment and Relaxation 3. Less Effort
Before I heading out for my first ChiRun, I'm watching the video below. I already know the hardest part of the run is going to be relaxing the tension in certain parts of my body, and maintaining my posture.
Has anyone else tried this technique? If so, any advice or feedback?
